YVES KALWIRA REPORTS FROM KARUBA EASTERN DRC

About 20,000 people live in Karuba but they do not have access to drinkable water. To understand why they find themselves in this situation, it’s useful to know that following intense fighting in January 2025 in Goma and surrounding region, people were forced to return to villages they had fled from.  Once there, they found ruins. Villagers told Yves that they had to walk 30 minutes each way, on a path not so easy to walk. Oxfam teams are doing their best to provide clean water to the people of Karuba.
