SAIED SILBAK

Born in Shafaa'mr in the lower Galilee, Saied Silbak is a London-based Palestinian composer and oud player whose sound transcends cultural borders.

His musical journey began with classical piano at age four before a teenage transition to the oud sparked a lifelong immersion in Palestinian and Arabic music. That dual grounding in Eastern and Western traditions underpins his sophisticated approach to composition and improvisation - a masterful fusion of Arabic, Turkish, Indian, jazz, and Western classical influences. Academically, Silbak trained and taught at the Beit Almusica Conservatoire, studied Music and Psychology at the University of Haifa, and earned a Masters from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

A sought-after performer on the international stage, he has captivated audiences at festivals across the UK, Europe, North Africa, and South America, and contributed to major projects including Ken Loach's film The Old Oak. Established as a vital, boundary-blurring voice in contemporary global music, Silbak continues to expand the possibilities of what the oud - and the traditions it carries - can express.
